Downswing (downturn)
A general slowdown in economic activity in an area, as indicated by economic indicators such as stock market prices, production, employment or foreign trade. – A standstill or even decline in gross domestic product during two quarters. – See deficit spending, crisis, landing, soft, recession, sentiment barometer, cyclicality.
