In the case of a credit agreement with the bank, a reimbursement for expenses for the use of the institution’s services (a fee charged by the lessor bank used to cover the costs associated with the leasing process). – The amount usually charged by building societies and insurance companies to the customer to cover the costs associated with the conclusion of a contract – and then – as a rule – set off against the first payments. – Frequent complaints about excessively high or opaque closing fees account for a good portion of the complaints received by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority from the general public. – See all-in fee, bank fees, processing fee, brokerage, fee, front loading fee, charge, bait offer, commission, tax, compensation. – Cf. the respective annual report of BaFin, chapter „Cross-Sectional Tasks,“ section „Consumer Complaints“; there also cases from practice relating to closing fees.
