Letter of credit (LoC)
A document by which a line of credit is opened with a third party, usually a bank, a letter of credit. – In the past, such a letter was usually given to traveling salesmen, who were at the same time personally recommended to the addressee by this letter of credit. – See Borgkraft, contingent claim, credit line.
